My name is Misiksk Jadis. I am 24 years old and I was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. I am of Mi'kmaq descent and later adopted into the Blackfoot culture. I have lived on Blackfoot territory for 16 years, but have since moved to the Abegweit First Nation in Prince Edward Island. I started calling myself a photographer when I was 17 years old. I loved taking pictures of the mountains, and of my nieces and nephews playing in the sand at the beach. To me, photography means capturing a moment and being able to savour every emotion in it forever. I also use photography as a way to embrace my culture.
